What is Counselling?

Counselling is a service which facilitates a person or couple to address issues, that are causing them stress and unhappiness in their lives.

The counsellor and client work together to find solutions that will work for the client. Counselling can bring about awareness. It can help the client to improve communication skills and develop healthy relationships.

How long does counselling last?

Counselling can be short-term for up to six weeks. Clients who want to resolve deeper issues attend for longer. The relationship the counsellor has with the client is important and it may take some timefor a client to feel comfortable trusting that they are in a safeplace to be themselves.

How do you work as a counsellor?

I have studied many theories including Person-Centred, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Reality Therapy and Adleriantheory.  As each person I meet is a unique individual I work in a waythat suits the person.
